Hydraulic Rotary Vane Actuators

The output torque developed by a hydraulic rotary actuator is determined by the dimensions of the vane on the shaft, the number of vanes and the hydraulic fluid pressure applied. Speed of rotation is dependent on the flow capacity of the hydraulic oil system. The majority of vane actuators are constructed with one or two vanes, as the torque output is directly proportional to the number of vanes.

Hydraulic Rack and Pinion Actuator

The rotary actuator motion is obtained by applying pressurised fluid to a piston which pushes a rack.

Helical Actuator

The piston is the linear actuator, under pneumatic or hydraulic pressure the helical actuator moves between two mechanical stops. This linear displacement is transformed mechanically into a rotary movement of the shaft under the effect of reversed helical thread of shaft against piston.
