Stainless Steel Air Filter Regulators.

 

316 Stainless steel filter regulator (FR) combination sets, commonly known as filter/reg units or piggyback sets, which combine a stainless steel air pressure regulator (Pressure reducing valve) on top of (mounted above) a stainless steel air filtration unit. The combination of the two units offer a very compact stainless steel air filter / regulator unit solution for effective and stable air pressure reducing and control combined with air filtration to remove particle debris, water and oil commonly found in most compressed air systems.

 

Typically, air compressors extract ambient air which in itself contains water particles or moisture and some ambient airborne dirt, which is then compressed and then piped to a ring main system for automation control of pneumatic systems, air actuated valves and pneumatic equipment. In many cases the compressor can also leak small amounts of oil into the system (except oilless compressors) and even the pipework will commonly contain debris in the form of swarf, rust, dust and other contaminants that would harm systems further down the line.

Installing a stainless steel filter regulator unit will effectively clean the compressed air and remove most of the airborne water and oil, which will collect at the base of the filter bowl.

 

Stainless Steel Air Pressure Regulator Adjustment.

The top mounted air pressure piston regulator can be adjusted manually via a control knob or T bar lever, with the outlet pressure displayed via an external pressure gauge. In most cases, the air filter/regulator pressure adjustment control is a knob or T bar will turn clockwise to increase outlet pressure and anti-clockwise to reduce the outlet pressure and can be adjusted between either 0.5 to 20 bar for the miniature series or 0.5 to 30 bar for the standard series.

 

Relieving or Non Relieving Pressure Regulators.

Most SUS316 air pressure regulators are a relieving type as standard, i.e. if you reduce the air pressure the excess downstream over pressure from the regulator will exhaust out to atmosphere and can be monitored immediately via the external pressure gauge.

A non relieving air regulator will not vent the excess down stream air, and the pressure will only reduce after there has been some demand downstream. Non relieving pressure regulators are typically used for pressurised liquid systems or special gases that could cause harm if released to atmosphere.

 

Stainless Steel Air Filtration Units.

The base mounted air filter units are typically fitted with a 5 micron 316 stainless steel filter elements, however a 40 micron element is an option. The filter element is designed to remove all particle debris bigger than 5 or 40 microns in size, with the internally generated air vortex helping to clean the element, so most particles drop into the filter bowl rather than blocking the element and reducing air flow. The filter bowl venturi effect will help to remove and collect any water vapour and oil from the compressed air supply that will also accumulate at the base of the stainless steel filter bowl. Most air filters are equipped with options for manual drain (Manual drain only), semi-automatic drain (auto drain under 0.5 bar or can manually drain) or fully automatic drain (automatically drains regardless of system pressure).

 

FDA Approval.

The stainless steel filter regulator air treatment FRL system can be manufactured with FDA approved REACH 579 food grade grease to meet the FDA standard.
