Stainless Steel Air Pressure Regulators.

There are various types of pressure control valves in the market today, this article will focus on stainless steel air pressure regulators that are designed to reduce and maintain stable outlet air pressure regardless of inlet pressure changes. Changes in air pressure system demands, air pressure reserves combined with changes in compressor minimum and maximum settings mean that compressed air pressures will change quite dramatically. This is compounded when high flow demands require high system air pressures or automation systems require high or low stable air pressures to operate. The best way to control air pressure supply to key pneumatic equipment is to install an air pressure regulator sometimes known simply as an air pressure reducing or regulating valve.

316 Stainless steel air pressure regulators are made entirely from 316 stainless steel, that means everything except the elastomer seals including the body, internals, handle, piston, locking nut, filter element, mounting bracket and screws are 316 stainless steel, except only the pressure gauge case that is 304 stainless steel. This makes this all stainless construction ideally suited  for the offshore, food, petrochemical and semi conductor industries.

ACFM = actual cubic feet per minute (CFM) is the compressed air volume flow measurement downstream from the compressor.

ANR = Atmosphere Normale de Reference is quantity of air at conditions 1.01325 bar absolute, 20oC and 65% Relative Humidity.

CFM = cubic feet per minute is the imperial measurement of flow rate volume of compressed air which typically would be adjusted according to pressure, temperature and relative humidity,

ICFM = Inlet Cubic feet per minute (CFM) the measurement of flow cubic feet per minute sucked into the inlet of an air compressor.

FAD = Free air delivery or actual volume of air uncompressed or at atmospheric pressure which is CFM as used in the imperial measuring format at +20oC ambient 0% relative Humidity ambient pressure 1 bar absolute.

nl/min = nominal litres a minute is the flow measured in litres a minute but converted to standard air conditions at 0oC and 0% Relative Humidity.

SCFM = standard cubic feet per minute (CFM) is the compressed air volume flow measurement downstream from the compressor adjusted back to standard air conditions with standard reference atmosphere 14.4 psi at 60oF or 15.5556oC.

ISO 1217 standard reference ambient conditions temperature +20oC, pressure 1 bar absolute, relative humidity 0%, cooling air / water +20oC and working pressure outlet set to 7 bar absolute.

Humidity = relative humidity Ø is the ratio of particle pressure of water vapour (Ew) within the mixture to the equilibrium vapour pressure of water (E*w) at a given temperature. Normally expressed as Relative humidity Ø = partial pressure of water (ew) / equilibrium vapour pressure e*w).
